Local Resources 21

The Local Resources 21 online toolkit provides resources and guidance to assist local governments in making effective progress towards local sustainability implementation. The toolkit is available to use free of charge and is in 7 languages, including English. It contains a database that catalogues an extensive range of existing tools, guidance, policies, organisations and examples of good practice to support the implementation of the Aalborg Commitments.

How does it work?

On entering the website, local governments can click on a specific country, Aalborg Commitment, or category (policies, tools, good practice, knowledge centres). This will take them to a list of resources or data items. Each data item has a summary of and web link to that specific resource. The user can also access a number of key documents and organisations via the website, including EU strategies, other relevant projects and tools, the Sustainable Cities & Towns Campaign, and Aalborg+10.

What are the benefits?

The toolkit has been designed to provide easy-to-find-resources for local governments implementing policies for sustainable development. The search facility is simple to use and the database is comprehensive. This will save local governments valuable time in searching for the right piece of information or example of good practice.
